Sakrete Kitchen Remodeling: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide

If you’re planning a kitchen remodel in Jacksonville and want Sakrete products in the mix, we install and work with Sakrete materials on the regular. Typical full kitchen remodels in Jacksonville run $14,000 to $45,000 installed, and we stock the common Sakrete products on our trucks so we’re not running back and forth to the supply house. Most Jacksonville homeowners figure out they need help with Sakrete products when the existing work starts showing cracks, moisture damage, or sagging surfaces, and they’re trying to sort out whether it’s a product issue or an installation issue.

Here’s the straight answer: Sakrete makes concrete and cement-based products for flooring, countertops, and surface prep. If your Sakrete surface is failing, it’s almost always one of three things: bad substrate prep, wrong product for the application, or water getting where it shouldn’t. We diagnose that in about an hour on site.

Which Sakrete Products This Applies To

We work with Sakrete’s full kitchen-relevant line: their self-leveling underlayments, concrete countertop mixes, floor patch compounds, and surface bonding cements. The compatibility gotcha most people miss is this: Sakrete concrete countertop mixes are designed for a minimum 1.5-inch pour over a properly reinforced substrate. Jacksonville humidity means you need a vapor barrier under any Sakrete pour that touches slab, or you’ll get efflorescence and spalling inside two summers. We see that failure pattern constantly in Riverside and San Marco homes built on older slabs.

Identifying the right product matters. The bag label lists the PSI rating, set time, and aggregate size. For kitchen counters, you want 5,000 PSI minimum. For floor leveling under tile, Sakrete’s self-leveling products are rated in flow distance, not PSI, and using the wrong one is how you get a floor that slopes toward the dishwasher. OEM versus aftermarket isn’t really the question with Sakrete: it’s product spec versus application spec. We match the product to what the surface actually has to do, then write that spec into your scope.

Signs Your Sakrete Surface Is Failing

  • Hairline cracks radiating from sink or cooktop cutouts. This is rebar or mesh placed too close to the surface, or a pour that cured too fast in Jacksonville heat. Water gets in, rust follows, spalling starts.
  • Counter feels like it moves when you lean on it. The substrate under the Sakrete pour is particle board or plywood that’s swollen from moisture. The concrete isn’t attached anymore; it’s resting there. That’s a replace, not a patch.
  • White chalky powder on the surface. Efflorescence. Water is wicking through the slab and pushing salts up through the Sakrete. Fixing it means finding the moisture source first, not just sealing the top.
  • Floor tiles cracking in a line across the kitchen. The self-leveler underneath cracked at a control joint in the slab. Sakrete underlayment will telegraph slab movement upward, and no amount of tile sealer stops it.
  • Pitting or rough spots that weren’t there at install. Wrong Sakrete mix for acidic exposure. Citrus juice, tomato sauce, vinegar breaks down standard cement products over time. Kitchen counters need a food-grade sealer or an epoxy-modified Sakrete mix.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

An open kitchen and dining area after a remodel

Full Sakrete kitchen remodels in Jacksonville land between $14,000 and $45,000. Countertop-only Sakrete pours run from roughly $2,000 to $6,500 depending on square footage and edge profile. Here’s the breakdown of what that includes:

Scope Jacksonville Price Range
Sakrete countertop pour (average kitchen) $2,000 – $6,500
Sakrete self-leveling underlayment (200 – 400 sq ft) $1,200 – $3,000
Full kitchen remodel with Sakrete surfaces $14,000 – $45,000
Small kitchen remodel with Sakrete countertops $9,000 – $20,000

Every price we give is written before work starts. Parts, labor, disposal, and sealant are line items on that written price. Nothing moves at the door. Curtis Lane locks the scope before the first bag is opened, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the work in writing for a full year. If the Sakrete surface fails in that window, we come back and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can mix and pour Sakrete yourself. That’s not the part that goes wrong. The part that goes wrong is substrate prep, moisture mitigation, and cure control in Florida humidity, and those aren’t things you learn from a YouTube video the night before. We’ve torn out too many DIY Sakrete counters in Neptune Beach where the mix was right but the rebar placement was wrong, and the whole pour cracked inside six months.

Scoping it right the first time is the difference between a surface that lasts twenty years and one that fails in two. We tell you exactly what the substrate needs, what products we’re using, and what it costs, in writing, before any work starts. Call (904) 337-5929 and we’ll send someone out to look at your kitchen.
