Mr-Glass Roofing: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide
We keep Mr-Glass-compatible roofing components on our trucks and replace failed parts the same day we diagnose them, usually for between $400 and $1,800 installed across Jacksonville. Most homeowners discover a problem the same way: a stain spreads across the ceiling after a hard rain, or a section of glass panel shifts enough to let daylight through where it shouldn’t. The fix is rarely a full re-roof. More often it’s a failed seal, a cracked panel, or flashing that gave out years before the Mr-Glass product itself did. We’ll tell you which one it is without charging you for the diagnosis.
Bradford Remodeling Co Jacksonville is an independent contractor. We’re not affiliated with the Mr-Glass brand. We work on their products because Jacksonville homeowners keep calling us about them, and Curtis Lane made the call years ago to stock the components rather than order every part and make a homeowner wait two weeks.
Key Takeaways
- Mr-Glass panel replacements in Jacksonville typically run $400 – $1,800 installed depending on panel size, roof pitch, and access.
- Seal and flashing failures are the most common issues we see, and they’re repairable without replacing the glass.
- You’ll get a written price before any work starts, and the repair is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise.
- We carry common Mr-Glass panel dimensions and seal systems on the truck for same-day repair.
Which Mr-Glass Models This Applies To

Mr-Glass produced several series over the years, and the parts are not interchangeable across all of them. The three we see most often in Jacksonville are the flat-panel skylight series, the ridge-mounted glass roof sections, and the flush-glazed patio covers. Each uses a different seal profile and a different glazing bar width. If you’re looking at the aluminum frame, measure the width of the bar between glass panels. The old flat series used a 50-millimeter bar. The ridge-mount units run wider, around 70 millimeters. That measurement alone will tell us which part family you need before we even set foot on the roof.
OEM Mr-Glass seals and glazing bars are still available for some series, but not all. When the factory part is discontinued, we use a quality aftermarket seal that matches the original durometer and UV rating. The Florida sun is harder on rubber and gasket material than anything else, and a cheap seal will crack inside two summers. We won’t put one on your roof. If you have the original paperwork, great. If not, we’ll identify the series by the frame profile and the panel thickness. That part takes about ten minutes on site.
We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone installations, since many Jacksonville homeowners with Mr-Glass roofing also have one of those in the kitchen or bath. Different problem, same discipline: identify the part, price it, write it down, do the work.

Signs Your Mr-Glass Roofing Is Failing
- Water staining on the ceiling below the glass. This almost always means a seal has lost its grip or flashing has pulled away from the deck. Water travels, so the stain may not sit directly under the failing panel.
- Condensation between glass layers. Double-glazed Mr-Glass panels that fog inside have lost their seal. The glass is still intact, but the insulating gas is gone and the panel needs replacement.
- Visible sag or dip in a glass section. Glass doesn’t sag. The framing underneath is moving, which means the substrate or the curb has softened. In Jacksonville’s wet season, that’s usually rot or water intrusion at work.
- Cracked or starred panel. Hail, a falling branch, or a tool dropped by a previous contractor. Hairline cracks spread with temperature swings, and Jacksonville gives glass plenty of both.
- Dry, chalky, or crumbling gasket material you can see from the roof edge. The seal is done for. It won’t recover, and re-caulking over it just masks the problem for one season before the leak comes back.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Mr-Glass repairs in Jacksonville, plan on these installed ranges:
- Seal or flashing replacement: $400 – $1,200 depending on how much linear footage has failed and how much of the surrounding roof structure needs attention.
- Single panel replacement: $450 – $1,800 depending on panel size, glazing type, and whether it’s a flat or sloped section.
- Glazing bar and seal system replacement on a larger glass roof section: $1,400 – $3,500 if the entire framework needs re-seating on the curb.
What drives the range? Access on the roof, the slope, and whether the underlying substrate is sound. If the wood underneath a seal failure has started to rot, that has to be addressed before new parts go on. Scope it right the first time, the job goes a lot smoother when nobody’s surprised. You’ll get the line item breakdown in writing before we start, and the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within the year, we come back and fix it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things from the ground or a ladder without touching the glass. Look for obvious cracks, lift a gasket edge with a fingernail to see if it’s hard and brittle, and check inside for water stains or condensation. Those observations help us diagnose before we arrive.
What you shouldn’t do is get up on a glass roof. Mr-Glass panels are load-rated, but a wet panel on a sloped roof is a slide waiting to happen, and a fall through a cracked panel is worse. Working with high-tension glazing bars also requires the right tools and a feel for how much pressure the extrusion will take before it warps. We see a lot of DIY seal jobs that hold for one Jacksonville summer and then open back up. The materials cost about the same either way; the difference is the labor and the guarantee. Call (904) 337-5929 and we’ll put a name on the job.
FAQs

Most Mr-Glass seal systems last 12 to 18 years in Jacksonville’s climate before UV exposure and seasonal heat cycles break down the rubber. Coastal homes closer to salt air tend to run on the shorter end of that range. If your seals are original and the house is past its fifteenth year, plan on inspecting them before the next rainy season.
Seals and flashing can be repaired or replaced without touching the glass. A cracked, fogged, or starred panel cannot be repaired and must be swapped for a new matched unit. Call (904) 337-5929 and we’ll tell you which situation you have before you spend anything.
A single seal or flashing repair usually takes one crew visit of three to six hours depending on roof access and how much seal footage is involved. A full panel replacement runs four to eight hours including removing the old glazing and re-bedding the new panel properly.
We carry common seal profiles, glazing bars, and standard panel dimensions on the truck for the Mr-Glass series we service most in Jacksonville. Non-standard panels or discontinued series parts may need a special order, and we’ll tell you the lead time before any work is scheduled. Call (904) 337-5929 to confirm your series over the phone.
