PGT Driveway & Pavers: The Jacksonville Owner’s Guide
We stock and install PGT-compatible driveway and paver systems across Jacksonville, with typical installed pricing running $7,000 – $18,000 for a full paver driveway and $3,500 – $11,000 for a paver patio, depending on square footage and substrate condition. Most owners discover a failure the hard way: a paver sinks after a heavy rain, an edge row starts drifting toward the lawn, or a driveway develops a low spot that holds water for days after a storm. The problem is rarely the paver itself. It’s what’s underneath it.
Bradford Remodeling Co Jacksonville is an independent contractor and is not affiliated with PGT. What we bring to the table is straight diagnostics on why your PGT paver surface failed and a written scope to fix it right, whether that means a targeted reset of twenty pavers or a full tear-out and rebuild of the base.
Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT’s hardscape line covers a range of concrete pavers and segmental retaining wall units, but the driveway and patio pavers we see most in Jacksonville fall into two camps: the tumbled, old-world-profile pavers (think 60mm and 80mm thickness) and the smooth-face contemporary lines. The thickness matters more than the color name. A 60mm paver is rated for patios and walkways. Put it under vehicle traffic on a Jacksonville driveway and it will crack at the corners within a few seasons. An 80mm paver is the driveway-rated unit.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: PGT color lots shift between production runs. If your driveway was laid six years ago, a new pallet of the “same” color will not match the sun-faded surface you have now. We tell every Jacksonville homeowner this before ordering. For repairs we blend from the least-visible area of the existing surface and put the new pavers there, then move the originals into the repair zone. For replacements, expect to see the difference and plan for it. OEM PGT pavers are the right call when you’re matching an existing PGT layout. Quality aftermarket equivalents from Belgard or Unilock make sense on a full rebuild where you’re not matching anything.

Signs Your PGT Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken pavers in the wheel tracks. The base rock under the driveway wasn’t compacted in lifts, or Jacksonville’s summer rains have washed fines out from under the edge restraint. Water gets under the pavers, the sand bed shifts, and the surface drops. This will not fix itself.
- Paver edges spreading into the lawn. The plastic or aluminum edge restraint failed, or was never installed. Once the perimeter lets go, the entire field starts drifting under traffic load and every paver loses interlock.
- Low spots holding water for 48+ hours after rain. That’s a base failure, not a paver issue. Standing water tells you the subgrade has settled unevenly. In Jacksonville’s clay-heavy soil, this is the most common driveway failure we see.
- Efflorescence or white haze that won’t brush off. Some is normal on new concrete pavers. If it’s persistent and powdery years later, moisture is moving through the paver from below, which means your drainage plane isn’t doing its job.
- Wobbling or rocking pavers underfoot. The bedding sand has eroded out of the joints, often because joint sand was never reapplied after year one. Loose pavers crack at the corners fast once they can move independently.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full PGT-compatible paver driveway replacement in Jacksonville runs $7,000 – $18,000 installed. Paver patio work falls in the $3,500 – $11,000 range. Those numbers include tear-out of the existing surface when needed, base excavation to depth, new compacted base rock, bedding sand, pavers, edge restraint, joint sand, and site cleanup.
What moves the price: total square footage, whether we’re pulling up an old concrete slab underneath, access for equipment, and whether your existing base can be salvaged. We write that determination into your quote before we start. No numbers that move at the door. By the time you sign, Curtis Lane has walked the site, measured the fall, checked the existing base with a probe, and put a fixed price in writing. Every completed paver job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the surface shifts, settles, or fails within a year, we return and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check two things safely. First, look at your edge restraint: if you can see it curling or pulling away from the pavers, that’s your root cause on an edge-drift driveway. Second, check if your joint sand has washed out by running a finger between pavers. If the gaps are empty and clean, you’ve lost your interlock sand.
Where DIY goes wrong is the base. Fixing a failed paver driveway is not a weekend re-level job. It requires excavating to the proper depth, compacting in lifts, re-establishing grade so water falls away from the house, and resetting every paver to spec. We get called in after a homeowner has spent two weekends and $600 on bagged sand and still has a driveway that holds water. Scope it right the first time – the job goes a lot smoother when nobody’s surprised. If your PGT pavers are shifting or sinking, call (904) 337-5929 and we’ll send someone who knows what the base should look like.
FAQs

A properly installed 80mm paver driveway on a compacted base should last 25 – 30 years in Jacksonville’s climate, with joint sand touch-ups every few years. The pavers themselves rarely fail. It’s the base underneath that cuts the life short when corners were skipped on install.
Usually, yes, if the failure is localized and the rest of the base is sound. We pull the affected pavers, correct the base to grade, and reset them. The repaired area may show slight color difference against the sun-aged field. For a quote on your specific repair, call (904) 337-5929 – the estimate is free.
Most full replacements run three to five working days, depending on access and whether an old slab has to come out first. Weather is the variable in Jacksonville – we don’t compact a wet base, so a week of afternoon thunderstorms can stretch the schedule. We’ll put the sequence and timeline in writing before we start.
We don’t stock PGT specifically, but we order direct from regional distributors and also install Belgard and Unilock systems, which give us faster availability on most full replacements. For matching an existing PGT surface, we place the order within a day of your signed approval. KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone are separate product lines we carry for interior work. Call (904) 337-5929 and we’ll tell you exactly what’s orderable and when it lands.
